Braised chicken wings with potato and carrot

We are big fans of chicken wings, but most ready-to-eat chicken wings we bought from the supermarket are too salty or sweet. So we give a try with homemade chick wings.

Ingredient: about 500g chicken wings, 1 big potato, 3 carrots, 2 pieces of ginger, 1 green onion, 1 garlic, 3 dry red hot peppers, 3 black peper, 1 star anise (doesn’t matter if you don’t have it),  1tsp sugar, soy sauce (about 40 ml) and dark soy sauce (just for color, 15ml).

Here comes the preparation stage:

Step1 : Wash and clean the chick wings.

Step2: Cut on the chick wings.

Step3: Peal and chop the carrots.

Step4: Peal and chop the potato.

Step5: Chop the green onion, garlic and ginger. Also get the peppers ready.

Preparation

Let’s proceed with the REAL cooking part!

Step6: Put the chick wings into a pot with cold water. Turn on the heat. Get the chick wings out when water starts boiling. Wash the chicken wings with water and put them aside for later use.

Step7: Add some oil to the pan. Turn on the heat.

Step8: When the heat is ready, add all the stuff prepared in Step5 into the pan and stir for about 30 seconds.

Step9: Chicken wings to the pan! And stir until you see the color of  wings turn into golden.

Step10: Add some water to the pan until it almost cover the wings.

Step11: Add potato and carrot chops, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, star anise and sugar. Stir a bit.

Step12: You need a pot cover, well to cover the pot. Use medium heat and wait for 20 minutes.

Last Step: Open the pot cover, and use the highest heat to vaporize half the water in the pan. Don’t make it too dry!
